Sometimes a tooth needs to be extracted. At The Dental Implant Clinic, We have all of the expertise and equipment to ensure that this procedure is as quick and painless as possible. If your teeth are badly abcessed or decayed and cannot be saved, then an extraction followed by the placement of a dental implant can be the best option. If you are highly apprehensive about your treatment, sedation (see below) is available.
Wisdom teeth are the third permanent molars which usually erupt between the ages of 18 and 21. Some people do not develop wisdom teeth, but this is not a problem. However, some people's wisdom teeth will only partially erupt and then become stuck. This is called an impacted wisdom tooth. An impacted wisdom tooth may need to be extracted if it causes persistent problems. To find out more about impacted wisdom teeth, click the Impacted Wisdom Teeth tab at the top of the page. Dr. Michael Attenborough has many years experience of ensuring that problematic wisdom teeth are extracted efficiently and carefully.
If you feel apprehensive about any dental treatment, for example a dental implant, sedation offers a more pleasant way to complete your treatment. It is also available for longer procedures. Click here to find out more about sedation.
These pictures show the treatment of an impacted wisdom tooth. In the first picture, on the left, the lower wisdom tooth has become impacted - it cannot come through any more because it has got stuck. Sometimes impacted wisdom teeth need to be extracted. The second picture, in the middle, shows that the upper and lower wisdom teeth have to be removed otherwise the upper wisdom tooth drops down and can make the gum beneath it sore. The final picture, on the right, shows that once they are removed the rest of your teeth can function better. This procedure can be carried out effectively by Dr. Michael Attenborough at The Dental Implant Clinic.
